💪 Fighting fascism and the far right
Céline Geissmann is a dedicated local councillor in Strasbourg and an active member of our network of progressive Young Elected Politicians. Driven by a strong desire to counter the far-right movement in France, she advocates for a fair and ambitious European project with a strong social dimension.
🌽 A Europe closer to rural areas
Marko Vešligaj has been Mayor of Pregrada for 11 years and he supports and encourages greater regional connectivity and rural development. He is now ready to transfer the knowledge and experience he has gained as a local leader in Croatia to the European Parliament. He advocates for youth participation in democracy, inclusivity for people with disabilities and combatting violence against women.
A Feminist European Green Deal ♀️🍃
Kata Tüttő has been Deputy Mayor of Budapest since 2019. She is engaged in the green transition, women’s rights and democracy. "There is no Hungary or Europe, only Hungary and Europe”, she stated.
🌹 A Progressive and Inclusive Europe
Belgium's Elio Di Rupo is known for his progressive policies. He has been a strong advocate for social justice, labour rights, and LGBTIQ+ rights. Currently, he serves as the Minister-President of Wallonia, focusing on regional economic development and social welfare.

A Cohesion Policy that leaves no one behind
Cohesion Policy should remain the core long-term, decentralised investment policy for the post-2027 period. The President of the European Committee of the Regions, Vasco Alves Cordeiro, is calling the candidates in the 2024 European elections to support Cohesion Policy as a fundamental pillar of the EU development model. 👇

Dario Nardella, Mayor of Florence, launched the “Ride, Florence Rewards You!” project. This initiative promotes biking to work, school, or university by offering 20 cents per kilometer traveled, up to 30 euros per month.

The European Committee of the Regions will welcome participants of the 2024 Young Elected Politicians programme on Friday 28th June. We are excited to get to know the progressive young local and regional leaders who are now part of our network of 650 young representatives from the EU and its neighborhood.
