👋 Hello!
You have been selected to take part in the fifth edition of our #ProgressivesSpeakUp School of young local and regional politicians, taking place on 4-5 April 2024 in Portimão, Portugal.
It is organised together with the Young European Socialists (YES), PES Women, the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) and the S&D Group in the European Parliament.

🏠 How is the School organised?
The #ProgressivesSpeakUp School will take place from Thursday 4 April at 12:30 to Friday 5 April at 17:30. The programme of the two-day event is regularly updated here.
The first day of the School will be followed by a citizen's debate on youth and European elections.
You are expected to attend the external PES Group meeting which will take place on Friday 5 April, from 9:00 to 13:00 at the Museum of Portimão. It will focus on a progressive European Housing strategy in view of the next mandate of the European institutions and the adoption of a #HousingForAll declaration.
✈️ How to get to Portimão?
Portimão is located in the South of Portugal. The closest airport is Faro. Regular shuttle buses will be organised from Faro airport to Portimão and back. If you would like to use the shuttle service, you will have to share your travel details via the registration form that we will circulate after receiving your confirmation of participation to the School. The bus ride takes about 1 hour. Information on the exact time schedule will follow closer to the meeting date.
It's important that you arrive in the morning of Thursday 4 April at the latest to be sure to be on time for the beginning of the school at 12:30 p.m.
🏠 Which hotels are recommended for the stay?
The organisers have negotiated preferential prices with the following two hotels:
1) Jupiter Marina Hotel (Portimão) – 4 min walking distance to the venue (Museu de Portimão)

2) Jupiter Algarve Hotel (Praia da Rocha) – 20 min walking distance to the venue (Museu de Portimão)

The organisers also recommend this third hotel:
3) Hotel Algarve Casino – 22 min walking distance to the venue (Museu de Portimão)
You are of course free to opt for an alternative accommodation option.
✈️ Reimbursement procedure for travel and stay
As part of the package, we offer:
- reimbursement of your travel expenses between the place of residence and the meeting venue (rail, bus or boat up to the price of a first-class ticket and car or airplane up to the price of an economy-class ticket). If the tickets refer to different places or the dates differ of more than 48h, you will have to submit the necessary evidence stating the price difference compared with a direct journey, together with your claim. Please make sure to keep all the receipts as we will need them for the reimbursement.
- coverage of a flat-rate subsistence allowance correspondent to EUR 294 for the entire stay which you can use to cover your hotel, taxis, etc. without having to submit the receipts.
- the lunches on Thursday and Friday.

To receive the allowance (unless already done), it is essential that you send us via email to [email protected] as soon as possible the enclosed legal entity form and the financial identification signed, together with the Annexes (ID/Passport and copy of a bank statement in case you don't want to have the signature and the stamp of your bank).
