Have a say on "Affordable. Social. Sustainable. Local solutions for housing"! Join our event during the European Week of Regions and Cities at the European Committee of the Regions
👋 Hi, Summer is winding down and we can't wait to meet you for the first time at the European Committee of the Regions in October!
Within the European Week of Regions and Cities, we are organising everything to give you the chance to meet us, our PES Group members, learn more about what's called the EU bubble and bring your experience and expertise on a table with policy-makers.
As some of you might be in Brussels for the activities organised in the framework of the YEPs programme by the European Committee of the Regions, we are inviting you to take part of two events organised by the PES Group on Tuesday 11 October.
9.30 - 11.00 a.m. CEST 🏡 Participatory lab "Affordable. Social. Sustainable. Local solutions for housing"
During the European Week of Regions and Cites, organised by the European Committee of the Regions, we at the PES Group are organising an interactive event to put on the same table you, progressive politicians and experts from organisations working on housing.
The main goal of this workshop is that you brainstorm with peers and experts on the challenges that you are facing at the local and regional level when working with housing issues and EU requirements, develop replicable solutions and understand how to take the best advantage of the initiatives and policies put in place by the EU.
You will learn from senior politicians who are making their city or region a top example when talking about affordable, social and sustainable housing and from experts from different backgrounds.
You will have the chance to present the outcomes in the form of a joint Declaration to top-level leaders: Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights Nicolas Schmit, the President of the Committee Vasco Alves Cordeiro, and all our PES Group members.
We set up four tables and you can choose the one you prefer to join:
- Social housing
- Sustainable housing
- Emergency housing
- Youth & housing

Given the limited number of seats available, we might have to assign you to another table if needed. Save your spot now!

Today, we are opening a flash pre-registration phase only you. As of next week, the registration will be open to everybody so this is your chance to have a say on housing and meet high-level speakers.
Concerning your preference for the discussion table, we will get back to you to note this information.
Registration process
You will need to create an account on Swapcard to register for the event. It's an easy-to-use registration system that offers many features and opportunities for engagement, matchmaking, and networking.
Remember that the event will be onsite unless there is any change in the COVID-19 rules in Belgium. To ensure a proper discussion, we need you physically present in Brussels. COVID-19 safety rules will be guaranteed.

11.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. CEST 💬 PES Group meeting
The participatory lab will kick off our PES Group meeting, where all our members discuss our political priorities and get ready for the upcoming Plenary session.
You are all invited to attend the meeting! This is a great occasion to understand the internal process and the current debates at the European Committee of the Regions and to discover the priorities of the PES Group.
You will also have to opportunity to intervene.
We will contact you again with more info on other events that you will be invited to join during those days.
